Hey guys. I'm going to the New York Rangers game tonight. Will I be looked at in a weird matter if I wear a Yankees jersey to the game? Has anyone done this before?

Been to a Rangers game? No.

I don't think there is any crossover between NY Rangers and NY Yankee fans so you could be in for a rough night.

Be prepared to be "that guy." I never understood that. I was at a Yankee game a few years back and someone near me had a Chris Weber (circa Michigan) jersey on. I don't think you'll get too much trouble, but wearing the jersey of team that isn't involved in the game has always truck me as weird.

I never understood this concept.

If I was going I'd wear a Rangers shirt. Unless of course you're a fan of the other team.

If I can wear a Yankees t-shirt to Shea Stadium to root for the Cardinals, you can wear it to a Rangers game. (I know I'm weird.)

I don't think it's that weird, same city.

One time I wore a Ranger hat to a Yankee game and a bunch of Islander fans started yelling at me.

I don't see an issue. as long as you're not wearing an Isles or Devils jersey you should be fine.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

Can I ask why you don't just wear a Rangers jersey though? If you don't care about them enough stay the hell home and give me the ticket.

i would wear a yankee hat to rangers game and do, but i think that is different, a hat is more ubiquitous in daily appearal

I rarely wear anything (affliation to a particular team) including a hat to any sporting event.
Because there is going to be some clown or some drunk clown with even more clowns who are going to say something.

In going to an event, be it a ball game or the opera the last thing I want someone to do is distract me from watching the event. And there is always someone who has to open their mouth to stop or distract me from watching the action.

Wear anything you want to a Rangers game, as long as it's not an Islanders jersey...;)

I think there are only 2 rules:

1. Never wear a Mets jersey;
2. Never wear a Red Sox jersey.

No other rules or qualifications needed.

I'd reverse the order of those rules, but otherwise I agree.

It gets a little chilly at those Hockey Games, you might consider wearing a Yankee Sweatshirt.

Who cares what anyone else thinks? Wear what you want.

Tell 'em to eff themselves. Islanders = Long Island = Muts. Tell 'em that this is NYC, and they can all go back to that terlit in Flushing.

You mean to Yankee Stadium, right? I thought this was about a Rangers game.

My friend wore his Curtis Martin jersey to a Yankees game, and sporadically fans nearby would shout "J-E-T-S Jets!" or "Curtis Martin -- woooo!" or something like that at him. It just felt very weird and made him stick out. And just sort of feels like you're a little ignorant because you don't know what sport you came to see (though I doubt anyone who wears these things is).

Then again, I wore my Flyers T-shirt to a Phillies game once (mainly because I wanted to show fan support and I didn't have any Phillies gear). I got one or two "Let's Go Flyers!" during the game.

I tried to start a "lets go rangers" chant while wearing a rangers jersey at the Bell Center in Montreal when the canadiens were playing the bruins. It didn't seem to work, but it did get a laugh from some of the bruins fans near by.

The majority of Ranger fans are probably either Yankees fans too or just don't care.
