Once again I must bring out the broken record.

I don't care if the Spring Training Games are in an NL Park, the AL Teams should be able to use a DH if they prefer.

I don't care if the Spring Training Games are in an NL Park, the AL Teams should be able to use a DH if they prefer.

It's bizarre, because the NL Teams can choose to have a DH at their home park in ST. You'd think they'd want to get someone some ABs, but evidently not.

I can see why the NL teams would want to get their pitchers an at bat or so, but there is no benefit for the AL Teams.

The NL sucks.

Sweet. I finally get to see Jackson pitch. I could not pick him out of a lineup but by some posters here he is pretty far along. Excited to see what he brings.

When is Clippard going to get some respect?

With all due respect, this spring he'll never be facing MLB hitters. He'll be coming in after the 5th/6th inning every time. He is facing the Pirates secondary squad - that's almost worse than AA players.

Neither is Jackson or Ohlendorf or Hughes or.... well you get the point.

Hughes, Jackson and Ohlie come in right after the starter, which was either the 3rd or 4th inning while MLB hitters may have still be in. Clippard came into the game as the third pitcher both times he pitched. I'm not bashing him - just giving my opinion why he doesn't deserve respect yet.

scooterfan
03-10-07, 01:51 PM
Neither is Jackson or Ohlendorf or Hughes or.... well you get the point.

Teams are letting regulars stick around through 3 at-bats
Today excepted, the 2nd pitcher in should face regulars

For example, Chase Wright last night faced mostly players in the D-Ray starting lineup

I gotta think that Wright and Jackson will head to the minor league complex during the next round of cuts. The question is - will T-Clip stick around?

May depend on whether Sanchez is ready to go

Teams are letting regulars stick around through 3 at-bats
Today excepted, the 2nd pitcher in should face regulars

Neither is Jackson or Ohlendorf or Hughes or.... well you get the point.Jackson, Ohlendorf and Hughes, have immediately pitched right after the starters pitched. That means they have faced better hitters than the pitchers who come on in the 5-9th inninngs, well, you get the point....

Hughes -
same deal with DeSalvo (been the 2nd pitcher in), Rasner, and Karstens

As pitchers extend, you expect we need only 5 pitchers to piggyback
Karstens, Rasner, Hughes, Ohlendorf....

I'd bet on Sanchez being #5 if he's ready to go...

Or is it: ST games when there isn't a split squad from innings 1-4 are good indicators of a player's readiness and the rest aren't.

Hughes, Jackson and Ohlie come in right after the starter, which was either the 3rd or 4th inning while MLB hitters may have still be in. Clippard came into the game as the third pitcher both times he pitched. I'm not bashing him - just giving my opinion why he doesn't deserve respect yet.Sorry, I didn't see this post when I posted my last to gdn.
