Comment - these might be the worst announcers I've ever heard
Given that the Tampa Bay TV crew includes Joe Magrane - one of the worst in baseball - that's saying a lot.
Last inning, they mentioned that ARod had lost 12 lbs. The color guy then says "I think a LOT of guys will be smaller this year" - to my ears, implying ARod might have juiced
two straight grounders to first
Cano missed a double by a foot
three straight grounders to the right, inning over
three straight grounders to the right, inning over
Spring Training is a time for practice. I think the Yankees have that down pat.

Of course, he fails to realize that ARod intentionally bulked up last year thinking that as a third baseman he should be bigger -- after his struggles in the field he decided that he was better off lighter. There has never been even a whisper than ARod juices.

Bingo
How the heck does a guy make this kind of reckless statement? ARod made a conscious decision to slim down, and is back to his 2005 playing weight
The guy is paid to do his homework last I checked...

Extreme and ridiculous examples are sometimes required to change people's perspective and make them think.
Also, Maddux half-jokingly wondered earlier in the offseason whether he would have even gotten a chance to pitch in the MLs if he were in the minors now, given the premium placed on 95-100 mph FBs in young pitchers these days.

Bean throws in the low 80´s with a slurvy breaking ball in the mid 70´s. While he doesn´t have the stuff to survive in the AL East he might make it with some team in the NL, think Chad Bradford for a comp.

Maddux has extreme command, the ability to spot every pitch of his better than any other pitcher of this generation, and a handful of ways he throws each of his pitches. HIs velocity went from a shade above average on the Cubs to average to below...but his ability to throw not only strikes, but consistently quality strikes whenever he wants, is the reason he is going to the HOF as one of the best pitchers of the last few decades.
Bean has deception in his delivery, but that is the only quality he possesses. Since major league hitters won't chase to the extent minor league hitters will based on that single asset, he'll get murdered by lefty hitters and probably walk too many righties to be any good. The fact that there really isn't anyone in baseball who believes he will be a major league pitcher consistently is a bit telling.
Again, my apologies. I was listening to the game, but so swamped (I filled almost 2 days' worth of prescriptions in 4 hours.

I heard Leyritz on the Michael Kay show today. He felt that Andy's changeup was solid. He thought the changeup was the key to his season. He felt that at times in Houston Pettitte got away from it, and over-relied on the cutter.
