Miguel Cairo > Enrique Wilson

miguel cairo is better than enrique wilson. plain and simple. he's a better fielder and a better hitter.

joe should play him more.

true, but Cairo is better over the course of their careers. Cairo is the better player.

No question Cairo's better. Most of us have been saying that here since before the season started.

i just wanted to reiterate that joe should play him more. although today is only one game, he has shown how capable of a player he in in just one game.

he plays good defense.
he hits better than enrique.
he hustles (today is a prime example.)

Regardless, we'll probably get a full-time 2B before the trade deadline, as will the Sox (Reese is a great fielder but can't hit a lick). Should be interesting who comes out on the better end there.

Until then, Cairo should play everyday.

I think the difference in production between the two players will have minimal impact on the outcome of games over the time before Vidro arrives. But I'd go with Senor Cairo if I had to pick...

The thing is, it's usually a defensive mistake a day for Wilson. Over the course of the season, he'd probably cost his team a lot of games.

I'll agree that their offensive production is kind of negligible (though Cairo is the better hitter), but Wilson's poor range alone should preclude him from a starting role.

As long as you didn't shut me down on the Vidro part!

I'm not so certain. Torre plays the hot hand a lot, and 2 doubles could get him another start.

I even like the way Cairo swings more than Enrique. Cairo has a nice compact motion. Enrique hacks at it. Let's send a petition to the Yankees to get Cairo in there.

after seeing Cairo play last night i say let Cairo be the everyday 2B but knowing Joe, Wilson will probably be the 2B tonight

Cairo did a great job, coming in and hitting well after sitting on the bench, and not getting much previous batting opportunity.

This is gonna be like Crosby... after he plays well, Joe is gonna sit him.

I say, let him play until he no longer is playing well. It's not like Enrique is a huge talent going to waste on the bench.

At the start of the season I said let's give Enrique a chance but after watching Cairo more and more I think he needs to be the starting 2B at this point.

Enrique still might turn it around, but if he doesn't quickly then a change has to be made. I mean we need at least SOME production out of the 2B position.

It really doesn't matter which one plays second. Both are journeymen subs. Neither is deserving of a regular position. They are there only as a stopgap measure till we get a capable player at second. Of the two, I feel Wilson is the better fielder.
